A start full of calm and joy

What adaptation looks like in our international preschool

Give your child a preschool start in a comfortable, calm, and joyful atmosphere!

At our international preschool, we make sure the first days are filled with warmth and a sense of security. In short, we surround your child with care and support, making the beginning of this new adventure much easier, and turning every day into an opportunity to explore the world with a smile!

Workshops with parents

What does the adaptation process look like?

How long does the adaptation process take?

What emotions accompany children and parents?

How can you help a child?

What impact do a parent's emotions have on a child?

How to maintain rituals and routines that make parting easier?

Step 2

At the beginning, we invite the child along with their parents to meet the teachers in the designated classroom for their group.

Individual meeting (child, parents, and teachers)

The young preschooler has the chance to explore all the cupboards, look at the toys, and meet the teachers. It’s a great time to establish the first connection with the child and their parents, and to get familiar with the environment.

The early stage of adaptation is also the moment for settling into the new space by leaving a pillow and blanket in the cupboard, and storing their belongings in the preschool cloakroom.

Step 3

Group activities

In the next stage, we invite all the children from the new group to join musical and sensory sessions with their parents. The little ones will have the opportunity to meet their new friends for the first time.

After the session, the teachers invite the children to the room for refreshments and some playtime. Parents are also encouraged to join in and socialise over a coffee.

Step 4

At this stage, we take a very individual approach to each child.

Classroom activities, or 'a short day at preschool'

We recognise the needs of our children, such as support during separation from parents, comfort in moments of sadness, and we keep parents informed about their child’s well-being.

At the beginning, the day at preschool is short. Children stay with us for 2 hours. After a week, they stay for a longer period, with the duration individually adjusted based on the child’s well-being.

The adaptation process is often accompanied by strong emotions from both the child and the parent, which is why this process takes place with the support of a psychologist. Parents can arrange individual consultations with the psychologist if they have any questions or concerns.

Step 5

A full-length preschool day

This is the final stage of adaptation, during which the child feels comfortable and willingly stays at preschool.

They are ready to explore the world, form their first relationships with peers, and take part in educational activities. At this stage, children often experience difficulty separating from preschool when it’s time to go home.
